Terms of Service

1. Who we are, and what this is

Lucid is operated by Prashanth Nimmagadda, an individual developer based in England & Wales, as a non-commercial educational portfolio project. By using Lucid you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

These are written in plain language on purpose. Terms nobody can read protect nobody.

2. What Lucid does

Lucid is a workspace for talking to AI models from several providers through one interface, using your own account with those providers. We provide the interface, conversation history, file handling and optional web search. We do not build, operate, or resell the underlying models.

3. Your account

You need an account to use Lucid, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Sign-in is by emailed link, so keep access to your email address secure, and tell us if you believe someone else has used your account.

You must be at least 16, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live.

4. Connected provider accounts

Lucid lets you connect your own AI accounts. How that works depends on the type:

  • API keys you paste are stored in your own browser and sent with the requests that need them. They are not saved to our database.
  • OpenRouter connections return an API key scoped to your account, handled the same way.
  • ChatGPT subscription links are the exception: we store an encrypted access and refresh token, because a web application cannot complete that connection otherwise. That token can spend against your ChatGPT plan, and it is used only for the requests you make in Lucid. You can disconnect it here or revoke it from your OpenAI account at any time. This feature is Beta at OpenAI and may change or stop working without notice.

Your agreement with each provider is between you and them. Their usage policies, rate limits and billing apply to you directly, and we cannot waive them on your behalf. You are responsible for any charges your connected accounts incur.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use Lucid to:

  • break the law, or help anyone else do so;
  • generate content that sexualises children, in any form;
  • harass, threaten, defame, or impersonate anyone;
  • build weapons, malware, or anything designed principally to cause harm to people or systems;
  • attack the service, including probing it for vulnerabilities without written permission, scraping it, or working around rate limits;
  • resell access, or use Lucid as a backend for another product without our agreement.

6. Your content

What you write and upload stays yours. We claim no ownership of it, and we store and process it only to run the service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Do not put other people’s confidential material into the service without permission.

7. AI output

Model output is frequently wrong. It states false things with complete confidence, invents citations, and produces code that looks correct and is not. Check anything that matters before relying on it.

Lucid is not a substitute for professional advice, medical, legal, financial or otherwise. Do not use it for decisions where being wrong is expensive or dangerous without a qualified person reviewing the result.

We claim no ownership of output generated for you. Whether AI output can be owned at all varies by jurisdiction, and near-identical output may be generated for someone else.

8. Availability

Lucid is provided as-is, as a personal project. We do not promise it will be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and it depends on third-party providers whose outages we do not control. We may change or discontinue features.

Files you upload are deleted within 48 hours by design. Keep your own copy of anything you need.

9. Payment

Lucid charges nothing and collects no payment details. Features marked “coming soon” are not available and are not being sold. If paid plans are ever introduced, terms for them will be published before anyone is charged.

Costs incurred on your own connected provider accounts are between you and that provider.

10. Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from your settings. It is permanent, and it removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that puts the service or other users at risk, or where we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or charges incurred on your connected provider accounts. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will say so by email or in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use Lucid after that means you accept the update.
